

The conference in pictures
The Bizkaia Primary and Community Care Conference brought together more than 150 medical and nursing professionals, mostly from health centres in Bizkaia. An excellent opportunity to share experiences and promote research among health professionals in Primary and Community Care in Bizkaia.

Opening
The conference was opened by Pilar Gayoso Diz, Deputy Director of Evaluation and Promotion of Research Institute of Health Carlos III, Iñaki Gutiérrez-Ibarluzea MSc, PhD, Director of Health Research, Innovation and Evaluation of OsasunEJGV, Enrique Peiró Callizo, Vice-Minister of Health of Eusko Jaurlaritza - Basque Government.
Research on clinical practice optimization and its outcomes in PC
Alvaro Sánchez Pérez, promoter of the conference, presented the importance of implementation science and research in the optimization of daily clinical practice, in search of quality primary care that allows us to improve people's health.


Research in PC from the Teaching Units
Rosa Añel Rodríguez, from the Multiprofessional Teaching Unit of Family and Community Care in Bizkaia, points out the role of the Teaching Units as a ‘seedbed’ for research in PC.

Designing, Implementing and Evaluating Sequential Adaptive Interventions
We had special guests Daniel Almirall, from the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research, Data Science for Dynamic Intervention Decision Making Center. He talked about sequential randomised trials for learning health systems.

Closing
The conference was brought to a close by Susana López Altuna, Director General of Osakidetza, who offered some words that highlighted the value of research in Primary Care as a driving force for continuous improvement in the health system.
